Experience

Will has over 23 years of experience in public accounting and private business financial management.

After graduating from Virginia Tech, Will worked for the “Big Eight” accounting firm of Deloitte, Haskins and Sells (a predecessor company of Deloitte and Touche) for five years performing audits of mining and insurance companies, and local governments, among others.

Moving into the private sector, Will held positions of increasing responsibility in financial services companies and, most recently, as Chief Financial Officer for Pohlig Brothers, Inc., a custom order manufacturer. There, Will was responsible for the functions of finance and administration, human resources and information systems.

Recognizing a personal interest in the challenge of working with taxation matters, Will earned a Master of Taxation degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and returned to public accounting to specialize in taxation.

As a partner in a local CPA firm, Will has accumulated a great deal of experience with real estate developers, investors and lessors, construction contractors, manufacturers, retailers and professional service organizations. He has advised business owners in the planning of their tax and financial strategies, both business and personal.

Realizing a long-time goal, Will founded his own CPA firm in 2005 in his continuing effort to find ways in which to better serve his clients.

As a result of his combination of experience in both public accounting and the private sector, Will has developed extensive expertise in numerous areas including startup companies, choice of legal entity, acquisitions and sales of businesses, multi-state taxation, and retirement and employee benefit plans. Will also provides planning and compliance services in the gift, estate and generation skipping transfer tax areas helping clients and their families minimize their exposure to these taxes.
